Knowledge in Action, Project-based Learning Approach to High School Advanced Placement Courses – The George Lucas Educational Foundation funded program is redesigning AP curriculum to provide deeper learning for high school students.
Differentiated Learning Initiative - BSF supports differentiated instruction to challenge high performing students, help struggling students meet academic standards, and engage students at every level to realize their full potential.

Support for Students 
Bridging the Achievement Gap Program – BSF provides grants to fund projects that offer extra academic support for struggling students. These projects are tailored for the specific needs at schools with high poverty and significant English language learner populations.
VIBES – BSF funds recruitment, training, placement, and tracking of volunteer mentors and tutors in every school in Bellevue.
AVID – BSF helps fund study skills elective classes offered at every middle and high school. Students learn study skills including organization, note taking, test preparation, and become strong advocates for their learning success.

Teaching Excellence 
National Board Certification – BSF supports teachers pursuing their National Board Certification by funding a District Coordinator and National Board-certified facilitators to mentor candidates through the rigorous process of preparing portfolios and preparing for exams in their content area. Over 200 National Board-certified teachers are teaching in Bellevue classrooms today.
Start-up Grants – BSF supports new teachers in the District with $200 grants for classroom materials. This year new special education teachers received financial support to help create a positive learning environment in their classrooms.
