Your gift WILL support:

Academic Rigor
  • Helping Bellevue students achieve universal proficiency in math, science, English, and social studies, beginning in kindergarten and continuing through grade 12. National education partners advise on standards and curriculum development undertaken by district staff.
  • Funding for books and curriculum development for the Senior English Course and the middle school language arts initiative (SpringBoard).
  • Implementing a state-of-the-art high school biology curriculum developed in consultation with Dr. Leroy Hood's Institute for Systems Biology.
  • Secure the funding for improvements in the Kindergarten - Grade 8 math curriculum, including aligning learning to international standards.
  • Funding curriculum development for the high school gifted program.

Student Support
  • Training and placement of hundreds of VIBES (Volunteers in Bellevue's Education System) mentors, serving students across the district.
  • Helping struggling students in grades 6-12 become successful learners through AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a nationally recognized study- and management-skills improvement program.
  • Providing academic support classes in all middle schools.
  • Provide academic support classes to help close the achievement gap for struggling students.

Teachers
  • Helping Bellevue teachers achieve National Board Certification.
  • Supporting 150 innovative student learning projects through classroom grants.
  • Granting $200 to each new teacher in the district for classroom materials.

Bellevue Schools Foundation has raised over $10 million since 1979

With more than 9,000 donors contributing, here is what the gifts HAVE made possible:
  • During 1999 - 2002, BSF established high level, year-long science curriculum in ALL elementary schools through Project Discovery. ($660,000)
  In 2004-2005:
  • Individuals donated nearly two-thirds of the $1.5 million that BSF raised for Bellevue public schools' programs. The remainder came from 97 local corporations, businesses, and foundations.
  • BSF funded curriculum research and development as well as teacher training in the new 9th grade Biology curriculum. ($85,000)
  • BSF awarded $162,000 to fund student support classes offered at the five Bellevue middle schools.
  • BSF purchased science kits for ALL the middle schools. This is the 3rd year for supporting this program at this level. ($65,000)
  • BSF purchased reading books for middle and high school students, as well as special reading materials for special education students and second language learners. ($42,000)
  • BSF helped Bellevue teachers become leaders in their field by underwriting National Board Certification fees ($159,500) and gave ALL new full-time teachers $200 each, to help with classroom purchases. ($34,100)
  • BSF awards more than $100,000 annually to fund innovative classroom projects in all Bellevue schools.
  • Throughout the school year, BSF helps fund the VIBES mentoring and tutoring program for struggling students. ($75,000)
