Every Trustee is expected to be on a committee and to help raise funds.
Membership Expectations
MEETINGS: Most trustees devote three to five hours per month to board and committee meetings, with additional committee work sometimes needed. The board has nine monthly business meetings annually including one all morning retreat. Monthly board meetings run from 7:30am to 9:00am, typically on the third Friday. Committees meet as needed which is usually once a month.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Board members are expected annually to support Bellevue Schools Foundation's two largest fund-raisers, Phonathon and Spring for Schools, in a variety of ways. Participation in other Foundation fundraising events is encouraged.
- During the fall Phonathon, which is conducted over several evenings,
board members are asked to make phone calls to a select donor list
and/or the general parent population. - Board members are requested to attend and serve as a table captain for
the Spring for Schools business luncheon in June. The table captains fill
their table with potential donors.
CONTRIBUTIONS: Every board member is expected to contribute energy, effort and funds to the Foundation. Each year the Foundation has reached its goal of 100% board giving. All Board members will be asked to make a personally significant contribution. It may be during the fall Phonathon, the Spring for Schools luncheon, or at other times during the year. Many board members choose to make a pledge in the fall that represents their giving for the year.
COMMITTEES: Standing committees carry out the work of the Bellevue Schools Foundation. The Foundation has a very small staff, so it relies on its trustees to provide significant help in accomplishing its work. Each board member is expected to actively participate on at least one committee. Board members are also strongly encouraged to participate on the Educational Marketing Team (formerly Adopt-a-School program). The committees meet as needed, though some are more seasonal than others.
